During pregnancy and menopause, hormonal imbalances can also upset the oil balance and increase the activity of sebaceous glands.

Treatments Oily Skin:
* Crab apple Make a paste. Apply all over the face and neck. Leave for 20 minutes. Wash with lukewarm water. It is a rich source of alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) which tone, soften and moisturize dull oily skin.

* Sandalwood powder- Add a few drops of water to half a tablespoon of the powder. Apply the paste all over the face, neck (in upward and outward direction) and hands. Avoid eye area. Let dry. Wash with tepid water. This reduces wrinkles and fine lines while fighting acne and blemishes.

* Lemon juice, flour, turmeric powder- Make a paste. (Use all purpose flour) Plain yogurt can be used in place of lemon juice. Apply all over the face except the eye area. Let dry. Rinse. The acids in the lemon juice treat dark spots on the face clearing the complexion. Turmeric brightens the look. (Lemon juice might cause a tingling sensation). Feel the fresh and oil free skin afterwards.

* Wheat germ oil Massage your face with the oil. Leave it on for 1 hour before washing with tepid water. Natural vitamin E, a powerful anti oxidant, in this oil prevents skin damage caused by UV rays and environmental pollution. It is great for softening the skin.

* Milk It is particularly necessary for individuals with oily skin to keep their skin clear otherwise it has a tendency to form acne lesions making the skin patchy, discolored and rough. Presence of oil makes the skin sticky thus attracting dirt from the environment clogging the pores. Clogged pores mean increased oil secretion.

* Rice powder and corn flour. It is absolutely necessary to exfoliate with a gentle scrub about 3-4 times per week to balance the skin’s moisture. Rice powder is an excellent natural exfoliating agent. It gives the over-stressed oily skin a new vitality and a healthy radiance.

* Potato and cucumber slices. Close your eyes and put 2 slices on top of the eyelids. The natural juices remove dark circles around the eyes.

* Almond meal and lemon rind- Make a facial scrub with 2 tablespoon almond meal, 1 tablespoon ground lemon rind and 3-4 tablespoon milk. Gently scrub your face and get rid of the excess oil.

* Rose petals, chamomile and geranium oils. Throw some rose petals in your tub and add 3-4 drops of chamomile oil and 1 drop of geranium oil. Soak your body in the sweet aroma. The chemicals in the petals and the oils act as a classic toner for oily skin.

* Multani mitti or fuller’s earth. Take 1 tablespoon mitti. (Found in Indian grocery stores). Make a paste with 3 tablespoon water and a pinch of turmeric powder. Apply to face and neck. Let dry. Wash face after about 20-30 minutes. This is a unique anti wrinkle pack containing valuable herbs and skin rejuvenating ingredients to give you an oil free, smooth and clear skin.

Oil production decreases with age. With age, skin starts to wrinkle. Drink water regularly and in good quantity. Eat frequent smaller meals than lesser large meals. This help your digestion process.

Acne is a group of skin rashes that have different causes. It is an inflammatory skin disease that affects the skin's oil glands. Acne is the most common skin disease. Nearly 17 million people in the United States have it. Most pimple are found on the face, neck, back, chest, and shoulders.
Acne is not a serious health threat but, it can cause scars.

4. Strawberry leaves can also help to reduce the pimple swelling.

6. Mix turmeric powder with some mint juice before applying on the acne. Wash it off with clean, lukewarm water after about 30 mins.

7. Even cooking condiments such as vinegar and salt have their uses as home remedy for acne. Mix the two together, before rubbing the mix over the pimple. Leave it there for some 10 to 20 mins before removing with lukewarm water.

8. Make a paste with cucumber before using it as a facial mask. Leave the mask on for 30 mins daily. Doing this will prevent acne from breaking out.

9. If you can tolerate the smell of garlic on your Acne face, then go ahead to apply some fresh garlic on the pimple. They will disappear after repeated applications.

10. Even the milk that you drink is useful as a home remedy for acne. Blend nutmeg with milk and you have a powerful paste to zap those pimple away.

Home Remedy for Toenail Fungus



An infection of nail fungus occurs when fungi infect one or more of your nails. A nail fungal infection may begin as a white or yellow spot under the tip of your fingernail or toenail. As the nail fungus spreads deeper into your nail, it may cause your nail to discolor, thicken and develop crumbling edges an unsightly and potentially painful problem.

How to avoid Toe Fungus:
Toenail and athlete's foot fungi like to grow in warm, moist areas, which include public areas such as spas, swimming pools, locker rooms, or showers. For short periods of time the it can live in warm puddles on tile floors, awaiting someone to step in and pick up the spores. If you can wear sandals, water shoes, or swimming booties they would help in keeping your feet from touching the floor directly. Some public swimming pool areas have small wade-through pools which help to keep the toenail and athlete's foot fungi in check. After your session at the pool or other public area, wash your feet thoroughly and dry them well.


Home Remedies to Treat Toenail Fungus:

The moment you notice any symptoms of toenail fungus you can follow certain home remedies that will prove very effective in eliminating the spread of the fungus before it spreads. Toenail fungus is contagious, so the sooner you eliminate the fungus, the better.
Following are some home remedies that use commonly available ingredients to stop the growth of the fungus and eventually eliminate it.

Vinegar:

The uses of tea tree oil are many. Tea tree oil is a natural and powerful fungicide and antiseptic. Rub the affected toenails with a cotton ball dipped in tea tree oil. Do this twice daily, morning and just before going to bed (three times if possible) for maximum effect, until the fungus is gone.

Listerine:
Almost all homes will have this mouthwash. Soak the affected toenails in Listerine for about 20 minutes twice daily. The antiseptic will help eradicate the fungus.

Rubbing Alcohol:
Rubbing alcohol is easily available at any pharmacy. Soak the affected toenails in rubbing alcohol for about 20 minutes twice daily (morning and just before going to bed). Dry thoroughly using super absorbent paper towels.

Vicks Voporub:
The efficacy of using Vicks for treatment of toenail fungus is not very clear. Many have found that using Vicks on the affected toenails has helped, and many have found no benefit. Vicks is known to stop the growth of the fungus, not eliminate it. You will have to use Vicks until the infected toenail grows out and a new one replaces it. Generally, it is advisable to try the other
options instead of this one.

Why Do You Develop Wrinkles?

Also, eyebrows tend to move up as someone ages perhaps because of forehead wrinkles and the skin has less of an ability to repair itself so wounds heal more slowly.
There are other forces at play that can make your skin suffer, such as :
1. The sun damages collagen fibers and causes an accumulation of abnormal elastin. Metalloproteinases, or enzymes, are produced that are able to repair most of the damage, however, it is this repetition of the rebuilding process that is done over and over again that causes skin problems.
2. The sun's UV radiation promotes oxidation. This also leads to the development of skin abnormalities.
3. Cigarette smoking causes the thickening and fragmentation of elastin, reduces circulation and the amount of oxygen that is supplied to the skin, and leads to less Collagen formation and reduced water content in the skin. Lastly, smoking compromises the ability of the skin to fend off free radicals causing cell destruction.
4. Air pollution – Ozone may be a problem for the skin. It may cause depletion of Vitamin E in the skin which is a vital antioxidant.
5. Rapid weight loss – This can cause fine lines since it reduces the volume of fat cells which cushion the face. This will cause the skin to sag.
6. Heredity – You may have inherited some skin characteristics from your parents.
Wrinkles are the most noticable signs of aging. As tissues sag, these lines form a type of canvas that is covered with cracks that have varying depths. As time marches on, they deepen and reach the dermis. As the dermis loses its elasticity, it becomes slack which leads to the formation of more pronounced wrinkles over 0.05 mm in depth.
Here is the normal progression of wrinkles characterized by age group:
20-25 – Vertical wrinkles on one's forehead and even between the eyebrows may already be visible. Fine lines at the external edges of the eyes are not yet noticeable.
25-40 – In the epidermis, wrinkles begin to deepen. They are less than 0.0005 mm in depth. They are caused by the superficial drying out of one's skin as well as the slowing down of cellular renewal.
40-50 – Fine lines around the lips, crow's feet, furrows alongside of the nose and the line between the eyebrows are all beginning to deepen. The skin loses it elasticity and the facial contours are not less well defined.

Drink more water every day


Water is the most needed chemical compound of our body. Without the daily necessary amount of water our body functions would be forced to shut down. The human body is anywhere from 55% to 78% water depending on body size. To function properly, the body requires between one and seven liters of water per day to avoid dehydration; the precise amount depends on the level of activity, temperature, humidity, and other factors. Most of this is ingested through foods or beverages other than drinking straight water. It is not clear how much water intake is needed by healthy people, though most advocates agree that 6–7 glasses of water (approximately 2 litres) daily is the minimum to maintain proper hydration. Medical literature favors a lower consumption, typically 1 liter of water for an average male, excluding extra requirements due to fluid loss from exercise or warm weather. For those who have healthy kidneys, it is rather difficult to drink too much water, but (especially in warm humid weather and while exercising) it is dangerous to drink too little. People can drink far more water than necessary while exercising, however, putting them at risk of water intoxication (hyperhydration), which can be fatal. The "fact" that a person should consume eight glasses of water per day cannot be traced back to a scientific source. There are other myths such as the effect of water on weight loss and constipation that have been dispelled.

Determine how much water you need. You've probably heard the "8 by 8" rule - drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water per day (2 quarts, 1.8 liters) - but the amount of water a person needs varies depending on his or her weight and activity level. Another way to determine your specific recommended water intake is to divide your weight (in pounds) by two. The resulting number is the number of ounces of water you need each day. For example, if you weigh 150 lbs., strive to drink 75 ounces of water daily. For those who use the Metric system, divide your weight (in kilograms) by 30 (ex. somebody weighing 70 kg is going to need 2.3 liters per day). Signs of Dehydration. You lose water through urination, respiration, and by sweating. If you are very active, you lose more water than if you are sedentary. Diuretics such as caffeine pills and alcohol result in the need to drink more water because they trick your body into thinking you have more water than we need. Symptoms of mild dehydration include chronic pains in joints and muscles,lower back pain, headaches and constipation. A strong odor to your urine, along with a yellow or amber color indicates that you may not be getting enough water. Note that riboflavin, a B Vitamin, will make your urine bright yellow. Dangers of Too Much Water. Don't start drinking an extra gallon of water a day - that can kill you, especially if you are fasting or eating very little. Water taken in must be in balance with body salt - electrolytes. The body needs to maintain salt balance or risk hyponatremia with heart attack and even death. Drinking too much water dilutes the salt in your blood and tissues - and can kill you. Healthy athletes have died from drinking too much plain water and not replacing salt. Dieters should not plunge into drinking gallons of water a day in hopes of burning a few more calories. Drink an extra few glasses, yes. But a gallon is too much.

Lastly, infatuation is weakened by time and separation where real love is strengthened by time and separation.
This does not mean that there will be no pain in separation. On the contrary, there is great pain in separation if

Be sure to do little things like opening doors for your girl, or offering her your arm when you walk together.

14. Lastly, Love is forgiving. This is a MUST for a successful love story. If a guy is not willing to forgive and forget when his girlfriend is one hour late, he is not exhibiting love. Love doesn't hold grudges when it has been wronged. It doesn't remain resentful.

अहिलेको यो मौसम भनेको SLC को मौसम हो । जसलाई शिक्षाको फलामको गेटको रुपमा हेरिन्छ । SLC दिने सम्पुर्ण विद्यार्थीहरु यतिवेला कसरी SLC उत्तीर्ण गर्न सकिन्छ भन्ने विषयमानै केन्द्रित भइरहेको छ । उच्च शिक्षा हाँसिल गर्नको निम्ति पनि SLC पार गर्नै पर्ने हुन्छ, र त्यहि तयारीका साथ विद्यार्थीहरु जुटिरहेको छ । अर्को थरि विद्यार्थीहरु जो शहरमानै हुर्के बढेका छन्, वोर्र्डिमा पढेर SLC दिंदै छन्, उनीहरुको लक्ष्य SLC दिनु त हुन्छ नै तर SLC पास गरि सके पछि Bike किन्नुनै उनीहरुको ठुलो लक्ष्य रहेको हुन्छ । समयको माग भनौं या साथीभाइहरुको संगत उनीहरुलाई Bike किन्नै पर्ने हुन्छ । PULSAR 200, FZ, VR यूवा वर्गको रोजाइका Bike हरुहुन् भने, Nova, Scooty Pep, Honda Dio यूवतीहरुको रोजाईका Bike हरुहुन् । लाहुरेहरु जो अहिले पनि Service मानै UK, BRUNEI, AFGANISTHAN, IRAQ स्थानमा कार्यरत छन् ज्यानको वाजी लगाएर कमाएको कमाएको कस्को लागि त ! त्यहि छोराछोरीको लागि हैन ! २ महिनाको कमाई त हो नी ! जसले उनीहरुको इच्छा पुरा हुन्छ, राम्रोसँग पढ्छ भने त्यो के नै हो र ! यस्तै सोंचाईले बाबा आमाले Bike सजिलै किनि दिन्छन् तर परिणमा सोंचेको भन्दा परक हुन्छ । वोडिङ पढेर SLC दिने यूवाहरु १५,१६ वर्षो मात्र हुने गर्दछ । त्यो वेला न उनीहरुको नागरीकता निस्केको हुन्छ ,न Licence नै, तर दष्पभ भने सजिलै निस्किने गर्दछ । कागज पत्र नहुँदा सँधै चोर वाटो लुक्दै हिंड्नु पर्दछ भने यूवाजोस Speed त्यस्तै हुन्छ, दुर्घटनाका प्रमुख कारण पनि यहिनै हो । २ लाखका Bike किनि दिएर राम्रो सँग पढ्छ भने किन नकिनि दिनु प्राय आमाहरुको यस्तै प्रतिक्रिया रहेको पाइन्छ । मिलन टोल निवासी मेतिसरा गुरुङ्ग पनि यस्तै कुरा व्यक्त गर्नु हुन्छ । " छोरा यस पटक SLC दिने हो, Bike किनि दियो भने राम्रो सँग पढ्छु भन्छ, मैले त किनि दिने विचार गरेको छु ।" वहाँकै छोरा नविन गुरुङ्ग," साथीहरु सबै सँग Bike छ, सँधै उनीहरुको पछाडीमात्र वसेर कति हिंड्ने ! अब त आफ्नै चाहियो नी !" बाबा विदेशमा हुने, घरमा आमा मात्र हुने भएको हुनाले पनि उनीहरुको इच्छा सजिलै पुरा हुने गर्दछ । आमाको माया, समयको माग, र पुगीसरी आएको हुनाले पनि यस्तो र्सतहरु सजिलै पुरा हुने गर्दछ । यस्तो खालको र्सतमा भने प्राय जसोले खुसी खुसी किनिदिने पाइएको छ, कमैमात्रले वाध्य भएर किनिदिनु परेको वताए । राम वजार निवासी शिला आले भन्नु हुन्छ, " वाध्य भन्द पनि समयको माग हो किनि दिएर खासै फरक पर्दैन, आफ्नै वच्चाहरु त हो सम्झाए त भइहाल्छ नी !" हुन पनि यो समयको माग पनि हो, भने विकृति पनि हो । यसमा फाइदा वेफाइदा दुवै रहेको छ । तर SLC लाई Target वनाएर Bike किन्नै पर्ने परिस्थिति सृजना गर्नु भने पक्कै राम्रो कुरा होइन । यो विषयमा अविभावक, र यूवा वर्ग आँफै सचेत हुन अत्यन्त जरुरी रहन्छ । आफ्नो र घरको आवश्यकतालाई ध्यानमा राखेर Bike किन्नले आफुमा जिम्मेवारीको वोध गराउँछ भने अन्जानमा Force गरेर, र्सतहरु राखेर Bike किन्ने गर्दछ, उनीहरुमा जिम्मेवारीको वोध हुँदैन, जे गर्न मन लाग्यो त्यहि गर्ने हुन्छ, जसको परिणम ज्यादै भयावह हुने गर्दछ, त्यो मृत्युनै किन नहोस् । युग अहिले २१औं शताब्दीमा दौडिरहेको छ । परिवर्तन, अनि आवश्यकता अहिलेको माग नै हो तर यसलाई सहि ढंगले सदुपयोग गर्न सकेनै यूवा वर्गको भविष्य सुनौलो हुन सक्दछ होइन भने जिवन अन्धकारमय वन्न केहि वेर नलाग्न पनि सक्छ ।

Mina Gurung, Senior Beautician and a Social Worker



Every girl wants to look beautiful and graceful. Mina Gurung is a beautician, who helps to fulfill this feminine dream. She is one of the most senior and skilled beautician of Pokhara. She takes her work as an art rather than duty and helps other to learn this art also. She provides her service through her parlor “Hong Beauty Parlour” which is situated in Mahendra Pool. Apart from the general beautician therapy, she also provides trainings to the interested students.
She was born to Mr. Krishna Gurung and Mrs. Dhan Kumari Gurung. She did her schooling from Amarsingh Boarding School. She was married to Mr. Chatra Bahadur Gururng in 2034 B.S. at a tender age of fifteen. She then moved to Hong Kong with her husband.

Like many others, she had an aim to become independent, successful and of course earn fame and money. Her first job was in a kinder garden, Hong Kong. There she also hosted a radio program in BFBS for about six years. She had a dream to become a beautician from her childhood, so to fulfill her dream, she thought of taking beautician training in her leisure time. With the help and support of her husband, she took beautician training classes. After finishing her training, she even opened a parlor in Hong Kong in the year 1988 AD. She ran this parlor till 1990 AD. Then, to excel her art in feminine beauty, she went to Singapore and Brunei to take advance level of beautician training. The training and experience brought confidence on her and through which she achieved the position that the most women dreams.
After this, in the year 1991, she returned to Nepal to open her own beauty parlor. In the beginning, she opened a parlour in her own house and later she moved the parlor to Mahendra pool and named it as “Hong Kong Herbal Beauty Institute”. The scope of parlor was increased from the beautician service to beautician training. Currently, this parlor is an hot spot for the ladies in the town and is running tremendously. The institute has even trained around 4000 – 4500 personals in different level of beautician course. She has even launched branches in Kathmandu as well as in other parts of Pokhara.

She is a successful entrepreneur and it wouldn’t be wrong to call her an all rounder, as she is engaged in various activities. Apart from her basic work, she hosts a program in Radio Annapurna and is actively working for various social organizations. She thinks beautician training is a vocational training which will immediately make people skillful which will teach them to fish financially. Recently, to uplift the homosexual people, the marginalized group of society, she arranged a three months beautician training for them. The cost of this project was financed from the portion of her profit. She is aware of her social responsibility, so she has made a cash reserve from donating seven percent of her profit, to help the poor and disabled women.

To make the voice of beautician heard and to bring every beautician under the same umbrella, she planned to make a National Beautician Union. Thus, in 2051 B.S., she organized a National Beautician Union with the help of other beautician all over Nepal. She is the chairman of this union today. According to her, National Beautician Union should mostly focus to establish educational sector relating to beauty. It should give emphasis to find solution regarding the health as well as beauty related queries. The job of beautician is tough and only the person who knows to appreciate it as an art would excel in this field thus one should be qualified to take this profession as a carrier. To make the beautician more qualified and internationally competent, candidate who have appeared plus two should only be permitted to take this as their profession. They should first get their qualification certificate from the organization like CTEVT and other similar organization to open their own business.

Apart from this, she is engaged in various organization like; She is the treasurer of Tamu Sansar community, managing director of Kaski Sandesh newspaper, secretary of the Gorkha Community Paschimanchal sector, member of the Lion’s club, etc.

Here is an excerpt of her interview

When did you enter in this profession and whom do you take your inspiration as?
I started this profession from 1991 and I got my inspiration from my husband Mr. Chatra Bahadur Gurung.

At that time our Society was also very conservative and ladies weren’t given much freedom as they have now. How was the response of the society and the people when you started this parlour?
During that time also women were very conscious about their beauty as they are now. The only difference is that, at that time women used to come to the parlour, get their makeup done and go out with their face covered. As the society was conservative, we didn’t get good response orally from them and we had to face hurdles while working.

As a wife of an army officer, you could have just stayed home. But you preferred to work and now you have a well-established business of your own. How would you explain this?
Well when I started my parlour, there were altogether three to four other parlours. As a wife of an army officer, I never had the feeling to remain idle. I always felt that I should do something of my own and my husband also gave me a full support. When I was in Honkong, it was my husband who persuaded me to take this as the profession. Due to my capability and my husband’s support, I am able to reach this height.

How would you define beauty as?
Beauty doesn’t only mean our outer appearance but it is a mixture of inner and outer looks.

How do take Politics as?
In our country the Politician have totally ruined the word called politics, they have taken it in a different aspect. If the present scenario is a politics, then I would define it as a dirty game and one should never get engaged in it.

If you were appointed as the prime minister of our country, which criteria would you give your first preference?
I am a responsible citizen and I think that I am fully capable to be the prime minister of our country. If I was appointed as the prime minister then I would emphasis to make a rule, where women would be given equal rights and freedom and there wouldn’t be any gender difference.

Who is your favorite politician and why?
I haven’t met much politician and among the few I like Rabindra Adhikari, as he is well cultured. I like his thought of reuniting and trying to make a new beginning of our country.

Would you like to share your happy and sad moments?
I was really sad at the demise of my beloved Kanchi Aama and the happiest moment was in the year 2051, we all beauticians had a grand gathering, I really enjoined a lot at that time.

As you are a busy person, how do you manage your routine?
Well my daily routine goes like this - I get up at 5 am in the morning, get fresh and do some praying (puja). After that for at least one hour, I do some Yoga. Then I take my breakfast and water my plants. I am quite a homely person, so I like to do my household works myself. After all my household works are finished I leave for parlour. I then give briefing classes to my staffs. If there are any meetings then I go to attend them and return back to parlour. I have to deal with various customers in the parlour and satisfy their request. Then I take classes of the new trainee. And in the evening, after my work is done, I return home and get freshed. I watch some news channels in the evening. After that I go through some religious books, as it gives relief from the daily work schedule. I always take some time to make a list of things that I have done in that particular day. Then I have my dinner and go to bed.

How do you define life as?
I think the true color of life is in a free society, where you can work without any obstacle or restriction and create a more developed society.
